Minutes of the Meeting of January 28, 2009
The meeting was called to order at 6:00 PM by President Chapman. The pledge of allegiance to the flag and reading of the meeting purpose followed. It was M/S/C to accept the minutes of the previous meeting. Trustee Ed Triezenberg took the duties of Vice – President for the evening as Vice-President Jackie Boschok was out of state on union business.
CREDENTIALS
It was M/S/C
to seat those delegates who were present. Dan Cristofferson, Tyler Williams and
Sue Klinker were sworn in as delegates.
GUESTS
Lori Province, Washington State Labor Council talked about the Worker Privacy Act and the Employee Free Choice Act. Delegates were encouraged to contact their legislators.
Liz Loomis, thanked the Council delegates for their support during her recent campaign for 44th District House of Representatives seat.
EXECUTIVE BOARD
Secretary-Treasurer Sells reported that the Board had adopted a budget for 2009 that held the line on expenditures. A new schedule including action meetings was adopted for 2009, and the COPE Screening Committee will be a little different this year. Also, a candidate requesting an endorsement interview will need to have letters of recommendation from at least two affiliates of the Council. The Board also adopted a focus for the year on the EFCA and Worker Privacy.
UNFINISHED BUSINESS
Nominations were reopened for two year terms for Secretary-Treasurer, Vice President, Sgt. At Arms, and Trustees 2 and 6. There were no further nominations. It was M/S/C to cast a unanimous ballot for the following individuals:

IATSE 15, Tara Heinecke reported they would be having an election at the Village Threatre in three weeks
Contract Negotiations
CWA 7800, Curt Eidem reported on the contract talks with AT&T. The company appears to be dragging its feet. The contract is up in February, and members have voted on strike authorization.
ATU 1576, Rick Jurkovic reported on the informational picket at Community Transit in December. They have had no contract for 13 months.
Other Local Reports
Jason Redrup, IAM 751A talked about the media making it sound like the union was responsible for Boeing’s recent problems. It is an effort to shift the blame off of poor management.
GOOD OF THE ORDER
Adrienne Fraley, WFSE, reported on here concerns with the Governor’s budget cuts and a lack of a salary increase at the State level..
Suzanne Moreau, Puget Sound Labor Agency Snohomish County Director thanked those that helped on MLK day, those that made Leadership Pledges to United Way and all those that contributed to fundraising activities over the last year. She handed out free income tax help brochures and announced the Community Caring Celebration on March 12th, the Volunteer Expo on April 18th, the Letter Carriers’ Food Drive on May 9th and the Route 66 Ride on June 11th leaving from the Machinists Hall. Holiday Gift Cards were given to 24 union families this year.
State Representative Mike Sells, 38th District, reported on the dismal budget situation on the state level, and updated delegates on the Worker Privacy Act he is sponsoring.
Toni Bohan, SEIU 925 talked about trying to build a big time fundraiser which should be outside of the PLSA. She expressed her dismay at how the PSLA Board operates.
