Minutes of the Meeting of August 22, 2012

 

  The meeting was called to order by President Chapman at 6:00 PM. Trustee Randy Kurtz, WFSE 948, was appointed to the Vice PresidentŐs Chair. The flag salute and meeting purpose reading followed. Minutes of the previous meeting were approved as posted on the web site.

SECRETARY-TREASURER REPORT

  Sec. Treas. Sells held a discussion with delegates regarding reasons for low voter participation in the primary. In addition, he discussed the Labor/Neighbor program briefly.

Other Local Activities—IBEW 89, Teresa Randall reported on attending the International IBEW WomenŐs Conference. 

  IBEW 191—Darrel McLaughlin reported on their upcoming picnic on September 9th in Mt. Vernon.

 

NEW BUSINESS

  Darrel McLaughlin, IBEW 191 recruited for the Labor/Neighbor Walks and the phone banks.

 

GOOD OF THE COUNCIL

  Patty Ceis, ATU 1576 reported on upcoming activity for the Labor Advisory Committee to United Way. They will be working on the Toys for Tots program. She asked delegates to sign up if they can place containers in their workplaces.

  Darrel McLaughlin, IBEW 191, reported on a member who owned a farm in Eastern Washington selling fresh produce locally. He could be contacted at their hall.

  Jim Smith, KSER 90.7 FM, Radio Labor Journal discussed the program and how unions can be involved. It was M/S/C to buy business cards for Jim Smith, the program director.
