REPORTS OF UNIONS

Organizing

Teamsters 38: Leonard Kelley thanked those that attended the rally at Durham Transportation. They did lose the election there 52 to 43, but have filed 15 objections with the NLRB. He felt there was no doubt that the school district helped the company. They are currently organizing blood bank employees at the Puget Sound Blood Centers.

Contract Negotiations

WFSE 948: Randy Kurtz reported they had tentative agreements on 2/3 of the contract negotiations items at the state level. They have reached settlement on health insurance with lowered the cost for all, and asked that people contact legislators for support of their negotiations.

AFSCME 1811C: Patty Goins noted that the local had settled their addendum agreement at the county.

IBT 38: Leonard Kelley noted that the local had taken a strike authorization vote at Crown Distributing. They now have a good contract at Alaska Distributing, the former Friendly Distributor. It is the only contract in seven states for the company.

NEW BUSINESS

Vice President Boschok noted that there would be no meeting for the SCLC in August due to the State Labor Council Convention in Wenatchee.

GOOD OF THE ORDER

Suzanne Moreau, Snohomish County PSLA Director, reported on fundraising activities in July and the August Martina McBride concert. She thanked UBC 562 for its donation of $750.00 for the PSLA through United Way. She promoted the raffle for the Solidarity Day event, the annual golf tournament at the State Labor Council Convention, the September 4th Labor Day rally in Seattle, and the Spirit of Snohomish County breakfast scheduled for September 7th where the Spirit of Labor award will be presented. The United Way Day of Caring is September 15th.

Kerri Cechovic, No on Initiative 933, reported on the campaign and the expensive problem 933 will pose of governments should it pass.

The meeting was adjourned at 6:55 PM

Respectfully submitted,
