Minutes of March 22nd Delegates Meeting
The meeting was
called to order at 6:00 PM by President Jason Redrup.
The presidentÕs
message was read.
A motion was made to
accept the minutes from the previous meeting; a vote was held and passed.
Credentials
Angela Guadamuz from
AFSCME 1811 CA, Cynthia Robson, John Shannon and Sabrina Snow from SEIU
Healthcare 1199NW were present, A motion was made to seat the delegates, vote
passed unanimously, The new delegates were sworn in.
Guest
Paul Roberts, spoke
on his upcoming race for Everett City Council and thanked the delegateÕs for
their support.
Brian Sullivan,
spoke about how Labor has always been good on the issues and how he is proud to
associate with it and thanked the council..
Secretary Treasurers Report.
Secretary Treasurer
Kelley gave up date on the Unions 101 class held March 18th. He
asked participants to speak about their experience with the class.
He added he was
disappointed that we didnÕt have enough signups for the ÒBring a Younger
Brother or Sister to DinerÓ event. Volunteer sign-up sheets were passed around
for the Trade up events being held in April. Kelley spoke about his trip to
Washington D.C. with Community Transit to lobby our Federal Representatives for
transportation and infrastructure funds.
Reports of Unions
Charlene Rawson CWA
reported that they had been without a contract for 47 days. She added they had
a strike authorization vote that passed by 93 %.
Sabrina Snow SEIU
Healthcare 1199NW.Negotiating first contract with Providence, she added that on
Tuesday morning the will staging a rally at 7:30 AM and asked for support.
Teresa Johnson, IBEW
Local 89, added on March 30th they begin negotiations with frontier
communications.
Mike Raughter, Teamsters Local 38. Reported on negotiations with
Crown Distributing and after some tough times they have a recommended
settlement to take back to the members.
Jason Brock Everett
Fire Local 46.shared their sign shop was in full gear making signs for Brian
Sullivan and that we are going to need all of Labor to help get him elected.
New Business
The education
committee will be meeting March 29th at the Labor Temple at 6:00 PM.
anyone interesting participating should attend.
Good of the Order
Teresa Johnson IBEW
Local 89, reported that the next CLUW meeting will be at AlphyÕs
Pizza on April 19th at 4:00 PM. ItÕs open to anyone to attend.
Betty Welsh, Wash
Tech, United Way Labor Engagement Manager.
Reported free Tax
sites are up and running, they are already over 3 Million dollars in refunds
coming back to Snohomish County residents that they have helped with their
returns.
Peanut Butter drive
is under way, Betty shared that if your unable to bring peanut butter
checks/donations work just as well, she added AFSCME has made a donation , Kathy Pierson too. Betty reported that you can
even use Alexa, you can say Ò Alexa How do I give
peanut butter to United WayÕ? And it well answer Amazon has it at this price
and delivered to United Way.
Betty added she has
4 non-union volunteers coming to trade up so this is a throw done to volunteer.
Betty reported that
this is the 25th year of the Letter Carrier food drive. Last year
over 250,000 pounds of food was donated and that this year its being held on
May 13th.
