The panel included Ruth Sharrett, SEIU 1199NW, Jeff Wedebrand, IBT 763 and Joe Chartier, OPEIU 8.
REPORTS OF UNIONS
Organizing: IBEW 191, Darrell Chapman, noted his 18 years in organizing and the process of salting used by his local to bring in new members and contracts.
Contract negotiations and maintenance:
Other Local Activity: Tom Plummer, IAM 751F, reported on the WISHA Monitoring Committee. He noted that a group called the We Care Coalition was suing the state on ergonomics rules. They are trying to create a hysterical response among businesses regarding the implementation and cost of the rules and have resorted to even lying about what it does. Many of the larger companies have already implemented ergonomics programs effectively and with little cost.
The following nominations were made for the 3 Washington State Labor Council Convention delegates:
Darrell Chapman, President, IBEW 191
Mike Sells, Secretary-Treasurer, AFT 772
Laura Wentworth, Vice President, AFSCME 1811CA
